Joseph Raphel Johnson

Joseph “Joe” Johnson, 76 passed away with his family by his side at his home in Indianola on June 5, 2019.  

Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of life and potluck lunch will be held from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Churchville Hall (2876 South Street, Churchville, IA  50211).

Joseph Raphel Johnson was born February 22, 1943 to Robert and Mary Laurine (Hoelting) Johnson in Des Moines, IA. Joe grew up in the Des Moines area and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp.  He later worked at Armstrong Tire and Rubber for many years.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years; Janice Johnson of Indianola, IA; three sons: JR. (Lundi) Johnson, Robert ( Shelly) Johnson and Vince Johnson, four grandchildren: Cody, Heather (Ray), Joe and Heather, six great grandchildren: and five brothers: Steve (Louise) Johnson, Bob (Bonnie) Johnson, Greg (Charlotte) Johnson, Mike (Bonnie) Johnson, Ray (Beverly) Johnson and a sister in law, Jan.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Patty, brother; Matt and grandsons: Austin and Logan.
