Janice Lea Gray, 77, entered Heaven on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
The family will greet friends from 10:00 – 11:00 am on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Experience Church (2559 E. Euclid Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50317). Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am. Janice loved the color pink, and everyone is encouraged to wear something pink in her honor. Burial will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, December 19, 2025, at The Iowa Veterans Cemetery (34024 Veterans Memorial Dr., Adel, IA 50003).
Janice Lea Austin was born on June 1, 1948, to James Dwight and Nora Mae (Palmer) Austin in Iowa City, IA. She grew up in Norwoodville, Iowa, and later lived in Bondurant, Des Moines, and Haverhill, IA. She is a 1968 graduate of Saydel High School. She met and fell in love with Edward Paul Gray, and in 1980, they were married.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Patrick) Cleary, Kathie (William) Stufflebeam, sister, April (Raymond) Briggs, four grandchildren: Alisha (Daniel), Meagan (Erik), Elaine, Scully (Matt), Sabrina, Jaccob; two great grandchildren, with two more on the way! Nieces: Michelle (Mark), Tina (Mike), Jamie, Raechelle (Pat). Uncle: Carl (Janice), called him Uncle Gene. Cousin: Karon (Alan).
In death, she rejoins her husband, Edward Paul Gray; her parents, James and Nora Austin; Grandpa and Grandma Austin; Grandma and Grandpa Palmer; Uncles John, Frank, and Kenneth Palmer; and Aunt Betty Young.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family and then will be designated to the Hope Ministries Center for women and children in memory of Janice.
