Edward John Baker born March 10, 1958 in Kentucky passed away unexpectedly at home on October 4, 2023 in Des Moines Iowa at the age of 65 years old.

Edward served in the Navy as a Boiler Technician, and as shore patrol. He also worked as a security officer for Conley Security Service, Des Moines International Airport, Whitewater making water-slides for amusement parks, Armstrong Tire Factory, Furniture Resource, and was a Dart para transit driver.

Edward liked being called by his middle name John.  He liked his westerns and pizzas.  He was big NASCAR fan enjoying watching the races.  He enjoyed telling stories of his time in the Navy and was a talented artist.  He like crocheting and also a up and coming gamer.  He was a car enthusiast and loved working on cars.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years; Paula Baker, his son, Jake Baker all from Des Moines, Iowa. His step-father, Max Huffaker from Iowa. His 3 brothers and sister in laws Down and Patty Baker, Larry and Penny Baker from Texas, and Wayne Baker.  His sisters; Ruth, and Beverly Huffaker from Iowa. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his step-daughter, Veronica Ann Miller, parents, Katie Huffaker and Virgil Baker, and his sister Anna Clark.

The family would like to say Thank you to Ouellette’s Funeral home, and sincerely grateful to the efforts to the ER staff at Mercy One Hospital.
