David A. Mackey, age 60, passed away unexpectedly in early June 2024 on the southeast side of Des Moines.
Dave was born on May 16, 1964, in Omaha, Nebraska. He spent his childhood growing up in Omaha and Des Moines, Iowa. He was a loving son, a caring brother, a generous uncle, and a friend with a big heart for anyone he met. From a very young age, Dave had a bright, benevolent, and trusting personality. He grew up enjoying quality time with family and friends, summers spent fishing, and had a deep love and appreciation for dogs every day of his life, knowing them only as his best buddies.
Dave studied computer programming at the Des Moines Area Community College after attending Des Moines Technical High School. As an adult, Dave loved having a car to work on in the garage and going for long drives. Despite many life struggles, he always stood back up and dusted himself off, doing his best to move forward with help from friends and family.
In death, he rejoins his maternal and paternal grandparents, his biological father, and many other loved ones who have passed before him.
Those left to remember the bright light that Dave once held here on earth include his mother and stepfather, Joan Enriquez and Frank Enriquez Jr.; his siblings, Kim Rummelhart, Deanna Mackey, Brooke Mackey, and Maria Enriquez; his stepsiblings, Carrie Merrifield and Rodney Enriquez; several nieces and nephews, including Jaclyn Rummelhart, Vivian Brent, Dante Nunez; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
